The Victorian Institute of Forensic Mental Health (better known as Forensicare) delivers inpatient and community forensic mental health services across Victoria.
Forensicare is a statutory authority and provider of specialist forensic mental health services under the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022.
Forensic mental health is a specialist area in the mental health system. It meets the needs of people with a mental illness who have offended or are at risk of offending.
Services include clinical assessment, treatment and management of people with a severe mental illness and offending behaviours, provision of psychiatric reports for court, and multidisciplinary treatment for people at high risk in the community.
Community correctional services - working with clients
Community Correctional Services (CCS) supervises adults who are sentenced by the courts to serve community corrections orders, or are released from prison on bail.

Forensicare provides adult mental health services in Victoria for people involved in the criminal justice system.
Forensic Leave Panel
The Forensic Leave Panel was abolished on 1 September 2026 and is no longer operating. Access annual reports from 2018.
