Licences and permits to possess (and possibly supply) scheduled substances

Licences authorise manufacturing and wholesaling activities of medicines and poisons (Schedule 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 poisons) and permits authorise educational, research and industrial entities and health services to obtain the medicines and poisons (Schedule 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9 poisons) that they need. On this page are forms to apply for a new licence or permit, or to amend an existing licence or permit.

The department assesses all new applications and amendments to existing licences and permits to determine the holder's capacity to comply with the regulations. Assessments may include:

  • inspection of the applicant’s premises
  • reviews of security and storage arrangements
  • review of processes such as access, supply and use of the scheduled poisons.
