An emergency can strike Victoria at any time and without warning.

Natural disasters in Victoria are most likely to be floods, bushfires or heatwaves. Other natural disasters can be storms, earthquakes and tsunamis.

Communicable disease outbreaks such as pandemic influenza will require an emergency response. Chemical, biological and radioactive (CBR) emergencies may also require an emergency response from the department, in conjunction with other agencies.
