Key messageTall Man lettering is the practice of writing part of the medicine’s name in upper case letters to help distinguish sound-alike, look-alike medicines from each other, to avoid selection errors.
Tall Man lettering has only been tested for use by health professionals and is recommended for use in:
- electronic medication management systems including prescribing and dispensing systems
- printed labels for dispensing shelving in pharmacies and in ward medicine cupboards
- drug libraries for smart pumps
