Promoting sexual safety in inpatient settings

The creation of a safe environment free from sexual harassment and intimidation is critical to the provision of effective mental health treatment and care.

Victoria’s mental health services are required to provide a safe and healing environment for all people with a mental illness. Consistent workplace policies and approaches for assessing and managing sexual activity can help to prevent inappropriate behaviour, manage risks and guide suitable responses to allegations of sexual assault or harassment.
