The Hire and Rental Industry Association of Australia Guidelines for the provision of portable toilets on construction sites and at events where connection to a sewer is not practical outline a national code of practice for portable toilet use.
The code of practice sets minimum standards for portable toilets, including manufacture, delivery and collection, on-site use and servicing. It emphasises hygiene and safety, not only for the public and users, but also for the personnel who transport, service and maintain these units.
Suppliers are responsible for compliance with local, state, territory and federal law, as well as meeting the Australian Standards and Work Health and Safety Regulations.
