On 27 May 2019, the $50 million Nursing and Midwifery Workforce Development Fund (the Fund) was announced as part of the 2019-2020 Victorian State Budget.

The 2022-23 State Budget announced a further boost of $5.6 million in 2022-23 to fund more Enrolled Nurse Transition to Practice Program places.

Over a four-year duration (2019-2020 to 2022-23), the Fund aims to create opportunities to train and develop more Victorians as a nurse or midwife, and to address current workforce shortages and projected workforce need.

This includes supporting the expansion of current nursing and midwifery Government initiatives such as the Graduate, Postgraduate and Scholarship programs.

It also supports the Enrolled Nursing Transition to Practice Program and Refresher Programs.

A list of Enrolled Nurse Transition to Practice Program and Refresher Program providers can be found below.

The implementation of the program supported as part of the Fund is undertaken by the Department of Health in close consultation with stakeholders to ensure its strategic implementation and focus on priority areas and clinical settings.
