Expressions of interest to develop new Chinese aged care facility
The Victorian Government values the importance of good health care and support for our older adults and their families in the Chinese community.
In the 2019-20 State Budget, the Victorian Government committed to provide a site for an additional Chinese aged care facility in Melbourne. The Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers, the Hon Luke Donnellan MP announced on 25 June 2021 that the site will be at 227-229 Manningham Road, Templestowe Lower.
All not-for-profit Chinese community organisations are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest to raise funds, develop the facility, and operate the facility, ensuring it meets the language and cultural needs of Chinese communities and families.
Organisations alone or in partnership with recognised aged care providers are invited to express interest.
The Victorian Government’s commitment to assist with access to land will provide important assistance for the establishment of a new facility. It should be noted that no Victorian State funds are available to assist with the capital or any other costs of residential aged care services. The Commonwealth Government has limited grant funding available in some circumstances.
A background paper that explains more about the project and what is required, is available to assist organisations in deciding whether to participate. A copy of the paper is available for download below.
The expressions of interest process opened with an information session held on 8 July 2021 and will close on 30 September.
Call for Expressions of Interest
The call for Expressions of Interest document may be downloaded below. The document includes details of the information that must be submitted by participants, including a Returnable Schedule.
The document also includes an appendix to assist participants to demonstrate their performance against the assessment criteria.
Expressions of Interest must be emailed by 5.00 PM on 30 September to: ChineseAgedCare@health.vic.gov.au
Any queries may also be directed to ChineseAgedCare@health.vic.gov.au.
