Partially delivered and in progress.
What the Royal Commission said:
The Royal Commission recommended that the Victorian Government:
- develop new statewide digital service requirements for all publicly funded mental health and wellbeing service providers that outline the minimum digital functions every provider should offer
- support mental health and wellbeing service providers to adopt digital technologies, where safe and appropriate to do so
- enable mental health and wellbeing services to offer people living with mental illness or psychological distress access to devices, data and digital literacy support, where it is their preference to use digital services but they are otherwise unable to do so.
What are we doing?
A new Mental Health and Wellbeing Client Management System is being developed to replace the current Client Management Interface and Operational Data Store, which is over 30 years old.
The new system will support better digital services and modern ways of working.
It will be rolled out in stages, allowing lessons learned from each phase to inform implementation and continuously improve information sharing.
Statewide rollout is expected by mid‑2028.
Refer to the department’s update on Recommendation 62 for further details on the interrelated work program.
