The Guidelines for pest control operators in Victoria provide information about the pest control licence, issued by the department under s. 101 of the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (PHW Act).

The guidelines aim to assist the pest control industry in complying with the legislation under which they are regulated, mainly the PHW Act and the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2019.

The PHW Act requires individual pest control operators to be licensed unless the pesticide is being used for certain specified purposes that do not involve a significant risk to public health.

Licensing of the pest control industry is designed to protect pest control operators, consumers, members of the public and the environment from harmful effects of pesticides.
