The Victorian Assistant Workforce Model (VAWM) aims to increase staff understanding of the scope of tasks that can be delegated to an allied health assistant (AHA).
It also seeks to quantify the opportunity for AHAs across a range of allied health disciplines working along the full spectrum of the continuum of care.
Implementing the VAWM includes developing a strategic workforce plan.
This sets up a platform for ongoing local strategic workforce reform while providing an avenue for monitoring, evaluating and reviewing the specific outcomes of the workforce reform.
The VAWM outlines a time-limited methodology, underpinned by three overarching principles: change management, consultation and organisational priorities.
The VAWM methodology commences with initial scoping of the project, project planning and developing key components for effective change management.
Ongoing engagement and active participation of AHP and AHA staff ensures that strategic workforce development is in line with organisational priorities while ensuring staff are informed, engaged and committed to allied health workforce reform within the organisation.
