Department of Health

The Standardised Student Induction Protocol (SSIP) was updated in 2021 to reflect key changes in screening, vaccination and fit-testing requirements which impacts on students undertaking placements.

The reviewed and amended SSIP aligns with latest published guidance including Student clinical placements - COVID-19 guidance, Fit-testing requirements to support clinical placements and National Disability Insurance Scheme (Practice Standards - Worker Screening) Rules 2018External Link .

The SSIP helps to reduce administration, provide an improved student learning experience and greater protection of patient safety. Whilst the SSIP is not mandatory, the department strongly encourages health services providing clinical health student placements to utilise the protocol.
