The strategy dashboard below presents population- and group-level data on trends in Victoria relating to blood-borne virus (BBV) and sexually transmissible infection (STI) notifications.
What’s included in the strategy dashboard
- Information on BBV and STI trends, including HIV, viral hepatitis and STI case numbers over time, and uptake of preventive mechanisms such as prescribed pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV.
- Indicators to measure progress against targets outlined in Victoria’s BBVSTI plans, developed in collaboration with sector stakeholders and members of affected communities.
BBV and STI are notifiable to the department in Victoria under Public Health and Wellbeing legislation. Notification data are received from medical practitioners and laboratories and do not necessarily reflect the true incidence of disease.
How the strategy dashboard can be used
The strategy dashboard can be used to evaluate and report on the impact of the Victorian sexual and reproductive health and viral hepatitis strategy 2022–30 and corresponding plans.
Data can be filtered by year and demographic characteristics including age group, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identity, country of birth and residential local government area.
The Strategy dashboard can also be used to inform effective prevention, testing, treatment and care services for BBV and STI programs.
Information about using and interpreting data is available on the Interpretation guide and limitations and Dashboard navigation guide pages of the dashboard. Further detail on the indicators presented, including data sources and calculations, is available in the dashboard
