Interagency Protocol between Victoria Police and nominated agencies - 2004

This Interagency Protocol has been developed to support the implementation of the Drugs Poisons and Controlled Substances (Volatile Substances) Act 2003 ("the Act").In September 2002 the Victorian Government's Parliamentary Drugs and Crime Prevention Committee (DCPC) tabled its Final Report on its Inquiry into the Inhalation of Volatile Substances following an 18 month examination of volatile substance misuse. The Inquiry handed down 16 recommendations, which included a proposal to develop legislation giving police search and seizure powers in relation to volatile substance abuse by young people. The Government, in its response, has supported this recommendation and made it a priority to introduce legislation to implement the proposal.
