The Victorian Government has launched The Lived and Living Experience Leadership Framework 2026–36.
The framework sets a shared vision for a service delivery system in Victoria that is led, shaped, delivered and evaluated by people with lived and living experience (LLE).
A person with LLE may have experience with mental health, alcohol and other drug (AOD), harm reduction, suicide prevention and gambling harm services and programs. These experiences can profoundly impact a person's life and worldview. It also includes people who are family members, carers or supporters of people who have or have had these experiences.
This framework applies to LLE workforces and leadership across the mental health, alcohol and other drugs, eating disorders, harm reduction, suicide prevention and gambling harm sectors.
A first of its kind in Victoria, the framework brings together diverse LLE perspectives to develop a collective vision for Victoria’s service system. It was shaped in consultation with key lived and living experience partners.
It provides a 10-year framework for LLE leadership and workforces, which will support improved health outcomes for Victorian consumers, families, carers, and supporters.
Through five areas for action, the framework will support system transformation by strengthening leadership and embedding lived and living expertise in decision-making. It will also ensure the system better reflects and responds to the diversity of Victorian communities.
