Michelle (off screen): I came to the West Gippsland Hospital for surgery …
Michelle sits in a large room with artwork out of focus in the background.
Michelle: …only about four weeks ago. Cancer related as it turned out. I had some signs that there was something amiss, and then within four, perhaps five weeks, I was in for surgery. So it was very, very quick.

Text on screen: Guided by Victoria's Planned Surgery Reform Blueprint, health services like West Gippsland Hospital have been implementing reform to improve how surgery is delivered - ensuring patients like Michelle receive the care they need, faster.
Michelle: I didn’t really have a chance to get worried or anything like that, but the information that I was given was very reassuring. The entire team, that’s surgeons, nurses, admin – everybody kept me well informed. And everybody was just lovely. They were very caring, very positive. I’d like to say that my surgeon, Doctor Genevieve, was wonderful and very caring and post-surgery she’s been in contact with me a number of times just to check in and see how I’m going. To the staff of the West Gippsland Hospital, I would like to say thank you to each and every one of you. You’ve been wonderful. As a new person to a hospital, that experience could be frightening, but it wasn’t. You made it wonderful.
