Claire Boardman, Victorian Deputy Public Health Commander

The Department of Health has released updated COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines.

The Guidelines apply to a range of settings including acute and subacute care, first responders and patient transport, residential aged care, primary and community health care.

If you work in healthcare or other care environments, the Guidelines will help you do your job safely.

The Guidelines provide comprehensive advice on how to break the chain of infection of COVID-19.

They cover measures such as vaccination, ventilation, environmental cleaning and personal protective equipment, or PPE.

The Guidelines also include an overview of the Respiratory Protection Program which is designed to protect healthcare workers from workplace respiratory hazards.

The Guidelines are developed by infection prevention and control specialists, incorporating the latest research and information on COVID-19.

They’re regularly updated, so make sure you check the website for these and other infection prevention and control resources.
