Nurse practitioners have completed extra university study to be able to perform extra duties, like:

  • order tests
  • prescribe treatments and medications
  • diagnose patients within their scope of practice.

Registration standard

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia has published the approved Registration StandardExternal Link for Nurse Practitioner endorsement.

Collaboratives or community of practice

Collaborative networks can support individuals working towards a Nurse Practitioner qualification and health services to develop NP models of care.
