Honour for Chris Brook

The Department of Health’s Wellbeing, Integrated Care and Aged Services Executive Director Chris Brook has been awarded a Distinguished Service Award by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).

Professor Brook received the international award ‘in recognition of his vital role in building the global influence of ISQua and securing funding for the establishment of the first international office in Melbourne.

‘The stability achieved through continuing support of ISQua in Australia over a 10-year period facilitated both growth and consolidation,’ the citation said.

Professor Brook was presented with the award at the 26th International ISQua Conference in Dublin, Ireland.

‘This is well-deserved recognition for his tireless efforts over nearly two decades,’ said Department of Health Secretary Fran Thorn.

ISQua is an organisation dedicated to driving continual improvement in the quality and safety of healthcare worldwide through education, research, collaboration and the dissemination of evidence-based knowledge.

Professor Brook has a long history of service with the ISQua with stints as a board member from 1993–2001 and President from 1997–1999.
