Home schooling works for Peter Mac Foundation
While home schooling during 2020, Lea Anderson, nine, was looking over her dad Nigel’s shoulder.
Mr Anderson – principal research radiation therapist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre – was working from home.
And his home work made an impression on her homework.
Between classes Lea was working to earn a little extra pocket money.
Her chosen business was bookmarks – made in colourful paper – which she sold to family, friends and whoever else would buy one.
The results were remarkable.
Lea made $170!
But rather than keep all the proceeds, with her newfound knowledge of Peter Mac’s work treating people with cancer, she donated more than half – $100 – to the Peter Mac Foundation.
Mr Anderson said he was extremely proud of his entrepreneurial philanthropist daughter.
