Consultation now open
The current Health Services (Health Service Establishments) Regulations 2013 will expire on 1 September 2024 and the Department of Health has consulted stakeholders to inform development of a new set of regulations. Previous consultation regarding the review has informed the development of a regulatory impact statement (RIS) and proposed regulations.
The department invites stakeholders to participate in this next round of consultation to inform the final design and implementation of the regulations.
The RIS notes that some issues raised in the review of the current Regulations are still under active consideration. We look forward to further consultation on those complex issues, to ensure that further updates to the Regulations on those matters are designed to most effectively safeguard Victorians.
Feedback on any aspect of the RIS and the proposed regulations is welcome. Feedback should be in writing and an optional response template including a table highlighting the proposed amendments has been provided.

Reforms to health regulation in Victoria
Stakeholders interested in the RIS and draft Regulations may also be aware that the Department is seeking feedback on proposed legislative reforms to improve the regulatory tools available under health portfolio legislation (including the Health Services Act 1988), and to change how assisted reproductive treatment (ART) is regulated in Victoria.
