The Department of Health and Human Services celebrated success in winning the KoAwatea International Excellence in Health Improvement Award for 'Developing a flexible and sustainable workforce' in 2016.

The statewide replication of the advanced practice physiotherapy workforce model addressed long wait times for surgery and new appointments.

In the last decade, a 77% increase in hip and knee replacement surgeries in Australia has meant delays in access to care, poorer health outcomes, and greater cost to our health system.

Creating a flexible and sustainable workforce that releases the talents of our skilled health professionals will be crucial to improving patient care and advancing quality, safety and innovation.
