In collaboration with a number of Victorian supported residential services, the Department of Health & Human Services has developed Under One Roof, a video that provides information and advice about managing and living in a supported residential service (SRS).
In the video, SRS proprietors and workers share their knowledge and experience of working in different environments. A wide variety of people come into SRS, and every person is unique, with their own set of circumstances, backgrounds and history that need to be accommodated. It is important to provide people with respect, privacy and trust in order to establish effective relationships with SRS residents. The video offers strategies to deal with conflict or complaints, and to get people involved in activities.
You can view the video in its entirety (35.22 minutes), or in chapters.
