Greater utilisation of the assistant workforce is important to support Victoria’s health workforce sustainability and to improve the health system’s capacity to meet future community health needs. This has largely focused on the allied health assistant workforce and health assistant (nursing) roles.
Allied health assistants
Demand for allied health services will increase with the ageing of the population, the growing burden of chronic disease and an increase in multidisciplinary care.
Health assistant (nursing)
Work as part of the healthcare team, assisting registered and enrolled nurses with patient care interventions and activities as directed.
