The Department of Health has launched a new advertising campaign in a bid to attract more workers to the mental health and wellbeing system.

The national campaign highlights improvements to the system and promotes job opportunities across a range of disciplines and roles.

The Victorian Government invested a record $3.8 billion in the 2021-22 Victorian State Budget to build a better mental health and wellbeing system with better supports, environments, and facilities.

The campaign launch coincides with the release of Victoria’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Strategy 2021-2024.

The Workforce Strategy responds to a key recommendation of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.

The Victorian Government is investing an additional $41 million to support the immediate actions in the Strategy. This includes support for 358 new full-time equivalent positions across the mental health system.

This will help stabilise the system to build a solid foundation for the decade of reform ahead.

The Workforce Strategy is an important step towards building a sustainable workforce to support Victoria’s mental health and wellbeing needs.

The Department of Health will collaborate with community and sector partners to implement the Workforce Strategy, which will be reviewed and updated every two years.
