Almost 800 people provided feedback about key features of the new service stream through a survey, focus groups and interviews.
Participants shared their views on how the new Local Services can provide the best possible treatment, care and support for people 26 years and over with mental illness or psychological distress.
The Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System called for 50 to 60 new Local Adult and Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Services across Victoria.
The first six services are due to open in Benalla, Brimbank, Frankston, Greater Geelong, Latrobe Valley, and Whittlesea by the end of 2022.
Local services will create a ‘front door’ to the reformed mental health and wellbeing system.
They will focus on prevention and early intervention. This will help people get the care they need much sooner and closer to their families and communities.
The engagement summary report is now available on the Engage Victoria website.
Most recently, the Department of Health conducted online forums for each of the first six locations for Local Services.
The focus of the forums was to seek input from the community and non-tendering service providers on how to make Local Services relevant to their local community.
A report on the outcomes of the forums will soon be published on the Engage Victoria website.
