Victoria has recorded one new case of coronavirus since yesterday in a returned international traveler in hotel quarantine.
The new hotel quarantine case is in a woman aged in her 40s.
There are currently 10 active cases of COVID-19 in Victoria. Nine of these are in people in hotel quarantine, with the tenth in a teenage girl who is isolating at home after contracting the virus in NSW.
Today is the 58th straight day where Victoria has recorded zero daily community transmission cases. There are no new deaths.
Last night the Expert Review Panel reviewed one case with discrepant test results. The review followed one case where a low positive result was returned following a coronavirus test. Following review of clinical, epidemiological and testing evidence, this case was rejected and deemed negative.
There has been an excellent response to our call for testing over the past week with higher than expected numbers of people getting tested, but we must remain vigilant over the festive season and anyone with symptoms is urged get tested immediately.
COVID-19 testing remains one of the best ways we can keep people safe and stay open and enjoy a COVIDSafe summer.
There will be reduced capacity of some testing sites until 2 January, including reduced hours at some Community Health Service-led testing sites. However, more than 60 testing sites will remain open throughout the summer break, including some sites open today.
Testing sites will also be operating in the popular holiday destinations at Torquay, Lorne, and the Mornington Peninsula.

A total of 3,841,286 test results have been received in Victoria which is an increase of 5,848 since yesterday. Wastewater monitoring is continuing at more than 60 locations across Victoria.
Victoria's border with New South Wales is closed and no one who has been in the Northern Beaches area, Greater Sydney or the NSW Central Coast from 11 December is allowed to come into Victoria.
Anyone arriving at the road border from those impacted areas will be turned away and will have to find alternative accommodation in New South Wales.
Victorians are strongly advised not to travel to Sydney as you may not be able to re-enter without undertaking hotel quarantine for 14 days.
The border restrictions are reviewed every day based on public health advice and we're working closely with NSW Health to monitor the situation closely.
As always, it remains vitally important that any Victorians with any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, stay home and get tested.
