Coronavirus update for Victoria – 24 May 2021

Victoria was notified of 2 new cases of coronavirus yesterday. Both are returned international travellers in hotel quarantine.


Victoria was notified of 2 new cases of coronavirus yesterday. Both are returned international traveller in hotel quarantine.

The cases are a man in his 30s and a man in his 40s.

The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 20,549. 

New positive cases

A full public health response and extensive contact tracing is underway after four people have tested positive to COVID-19

The individuals are a male in their 30s, a male in their 70s, a woman in their 70s and a pre-school aged child.

The cases are all family contacts, across 3 households and will be included in tomorrow’s figures.

The individuals have been interviewed and initial exposure sites have been identified and published.

We are asking everyone linked to the Highpoint exposure site to test and isolate until further notice, until more investigations about the individual’s movements within the facility can be confirmed.

More sites and updates will be added as they are identified.

If you have any symptoms of COVID-19 – such as fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, chills or sweats, or change in sense of smell or taste – get a test immediately.

Update: Vaccinations

A total of 2,622 COVID-19 vaccination doses were administered yesterday by state-commissioned services across Victoria.

This brings the total number of vaccine doses administered by the Department as of yesterday to 370,495.

From today transport workers under the age of 50 can call the coronavirus hotline and secure an appointment for the Pfizer vaccine.

A community vaccination centre operated by Bendigo Health has begun operations at a new location - 113-133 Mollison Street Bendigo.

General advice

Coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms include fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath and loss or change in sense of smell or taste. If you are experiencing symptoms, wear a fitted face mask when you get tested.

The Department is publishing expected wait times at testing sites as well as updated information about locations and hours of operation.
