Coronavirus update for Victoria – 23 May 2021

This is the 86th day in a row of no new locally acquired cases.

The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 20,547. 

Update: New Epping exposure site

There has been a strong community response to calls for testing in Epping following the announcement of a wastewater detection in the area and the identification of a new exposure site.

Anyone who was at the Woolworths Epping North supermarket, corner Epping Road and Lyndarum Drive (2 Lyndarum Drive), Epping (North), on 8 May between 5.40pm and 6.38pm, must get tested and isolate until they get a negative result.

13 individuals linked to this exposure site have been identified and tested with 10 returning negative results so far. 

Update: Vaccinations 

A total of 3,954 COVID-19 vaccination doses were administered yesterday by state commissioned services across Victoria. 

This brings the total number of vaccine doses administered by the Department as of yesterday to 367,873. 

From tomorrow transport workers under the age of 50 can call the coronavirus hotline and secure an appointment for the Pfizer vaccine. 

Also from tomorrow, a community vaccination centre operated by Bendigo Health is moving to 113-133 Mollison Street Bendigo.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms include fever, sore throat, cough, shortness of breath and loss or change in sense of smell or taste. If you are experiencing symptoms, wear a fitted face mask when you get tested.
