Victoria was notified of one new case of coronavirus yesterday in a returned traveller in hotel quarantine.
The new case is a child.
There have been no new locally acquired cases recorded in Victoria.
This is the 74th day in a row of no new locally acquired cases.
The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 20,536.
Wollert case
A full public health response is underway after an individual in Victoria tested positive to COVID-19.
The individual, a male in his 30s, recently returned to Australia from overseas and undertook hotel quarantine in South Australia.
He arrived in Victoria and returned to his home in Wollert on 4 May and developed symptoms on 8 May.
He presented for testing yesterday, 10 May. Further testing this afternoon has confirmed the positive result.
The individual is isolating at his home and household primary close contacts have been tested and returned negative results.
The case will be included in tomorrow’s figures.
The individual has been interviewed and exposure sites in Melbourne, Epping and Altona North have been identified and published at Case alerts - public exposure .

Update: Vaccinations
A total of 8,155 COVID-19 vaccination doses were administered yesterday by state commissioned services across Victoria.
This brings the total number of vaccine doses administered by the Department as of yesterday to 273,220.

Update: WA travel permit zones
Based on an assessment of public health risks, the Chief Health Officer has declared that the Perth metropolitan area and the Peel region in Western Australia are designated green zones under Victoria’s ‘traffic light’ travel permit system, effective 11:59pm, 10 May 2021.
People entering Victoria from a green zone require a permit. Permits take five minutes to obtain obtain at Service . Permits help authorities in Victoria contact people should the situation in any state change.

NSW has recorded no new community acquired cases of COVID-19 since yesterday.
All areas in New South Wales remain as green zones under Victoria’s travel permit system.
More than 77,000 SMS messages have been sent by Victorian health authorities to people arriving into Victoria from Sydney since 30 April.
The messages instruct the recipients to check the NSW public exposure site listings linked to two recent community cases of COVID-19.

In Victoria, attendees at NSW close contact sites will be managed as Tier 1 contacts and must immediately isolate, get a COVID-19 test, and remain isolated for 14 days.
Attendees at NSW casual contact sites in Victoria will be managed as Tier 2 contacts and need to get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.
