Victoria has recorded 394 new cases of coronavirus since yesterday, with the total number of cases now at 14,659
The overall total has increased by 376 due to 18 cases being reclassified – largely due to duplication.
Within Victoria, 49 of the new cases are linked to outbreaks or complex cases and 345 are under investigation.
There have been 17 new deaths from COVID-19 reported since yesterday. They include two men in their 50s, four men in their 70s, four women and two men in their 80s and three men and two women in their 90s.
Ten of the 17 new deaths are linked to known outbreaks in aged care facilities. To date, 210 people have died from coronavirus in Victoria.
In Victoria at the current time:
- 2758 cases may indicate community transmission
- 7854 cases are currently active in Victoria
- 634 cases of coronavirus are in hospital, including 43 in intensive care
- 6378 people have recovered from the virus
- More than 1,801,300 tests have been processed – an increase of 41,416 since yesterday
Of the total cases:
- 13,445 cases are from metropolitan Melbourne, while 889 are from regional Victoria
- Total cases include 7103 men and 7481 women
- Total number of healthcare workers: 1725, active cases: 994
- There are 1748 active cases relating to aged care facilities
Active aged care outbreaks with the highest cumulative case numbers are as follows:
- 186 cases have been linked to Epping Gardens Aged Care in Epping
- 169 cases have been linked to St Basil’s Homes for the Aged in Fawkner
- 146 cases have been linked to Estia Aged Care Facility in Ardeer
- 123 cases have been linked to Kirkbrae Presbyterian Homes in Kilsyth
- 105 cases have been linked to BaptCare Wyndham Lodge Community in Werribee
- 96 cases have been linked to Estia Aged Care Facility in Heidelberg
- 93 cases have been linked to Outlook Gardens Aged Care Facility in Dandenong North
- 87 cases have been linked to Arcare Aged Care Facility in Craigieburn
- 78 cases have been linked to Glendale Aged Care Facility in Werribee
- 77 cases have been linked to Aurrum Aged Care in Plenty
Cases currently linked to key outbreaks are as follows:
- 200 cases have been linked to Bertocchi Smallgoods in Thomastown
- 125 cases have been linked to JBS Brooklyn
- 109 cases have been linked to Melbourne Health Royal Park Campus
- 83 cases have been linked to Australian Lamb Company in Colac
- 48 cases have been linked to the Linfox warehouse in Truganina
- 40 cases have been linked to Golden Farms Poultry in Breakwater
- 38 cases have been linked to Catholic Regional College in Sydenham
- 31 cases have been linked to Inghams in Thomastown
- 26 cases have been linked to Bingo Recycling in West Melbourne
- 16 cases have been linked to Hazeldene’s Chicken Farm in Bendigo
- 13 cases have been linked to Bluebird Early Education in South Morang
The department is also investigating cases linked to Glenlyn Aged Care Facility in Glenroy, seven cases linked to a new outbreak at JBS in Brooklyn, four cases linked to Knox International in Brooklyn and four cases linked to PGG Wrightson Seeds in Truganina.More information will be available in coming days as these investigations continue.
As public health work is undertaken throughout the day, these outbreak totals are likely to change as the public health team identify links between cases and identified outbreaks. Organisation based outbreaks totals include contacts as well as employees/residents/staff/students of that location/business.
