GP respiratory clinics

20 new GP respiratory clinics are being set up across metropolitan Melbourne to support increased access to timely, face-to-face respiratory assessments, close to where people live.

  • Support people of all ages with respiratory symptoms to access a face-to-face respiratory assessment and receive immediate support in management of their illness
  • Are available to those with or without a Medicare card, at no cost to the patient
  • Refer patients back to their usual GP for ongoing care or assist to identify a GP if they don’t already have one
  • Support patients who test positive to COVID-19 to receive care through the COVID Positive Pathways program, which links people to clinical care, monitoring and support services.

GP respiratory clinics do not provide COVID-19 testing for people without symptoms of COVID-19. Symptomatic testing is available as part of a respiratory assessment and to support clinical care.

New clinics are being established in the local government areas of Banyule, Boroondara, Brimbank, Cardinia, Casey, Darebin, Greater Dandenong, Hume, Kingston, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Melton, Monash, Moonee Valley, Moreland, Whittlesea and Wyndham.

Primary Health Networks are commissioning the state-funded GP respiratory clinics.

These clinics will complement the existing Commonwealth-funded GP respiratory clinics across Victoria.
