Resources to help plan and prepare for a COVID-19 outbreak in residential aged care

It is the responsibility of each residential aged care facility to prepare an outbreak management plan that is tested, reviewed and adjusted regularly.

Infection Prevention Control (IPC) is a critical component of planning and preparing for a COVID-19 outbreak. Infection Prevention Control resources are available.


Providers should establish clear and early communications with residents, families, representatives and key stakeholders. Conversations should include the choice and preferences of each resident/guardian in the event of a positive diagnosis of COVID-19, and confirmation of the currency of the medical treatment decision maker and the advanced care directive.
