The Victorian Government is committed to improving the
experience of people who are patients in Victorian public
hospitals. Whether you have a shorter or longer visit to
one of Victoria’s public hospitals, we want you to
have quality care and be supported so you can concentrate
on getting better. We are doing this by creating opportunities
for patients to:
- be more involved in their care
- obtain better information on the care they will receive
- provide feedback on treatment they have received
- be consulted in the development of policies and programs.
More information about specific government initiatives
to improve your experience in the public hospital system
can be found at the following websites:
- The
Victorian Patient Satisfaction Monitor (VPSM) website provides
information about a biannual survey of approximately
17,000 patients. The survey monitors and reports
on patients' satisfaction with hospital services.
By providing feedback on their experience, patients
have a role in improving public hospital services.
Prospective patients and their general practitioners
can also use the VPSM to find out more about hospital
services.
- The
Public Hospital Patient Charter website provides
information about the Patient Charter, a document
that outlines the rights and responsibilities of
Victorian public hospital patients. The Charter and
accompanying documents (translations of the Charter,
posters, information about advocates) can be downloaded
from this website.
