All STaRT functions are currently available to health and community services. Training providers wishing to access the functions below can do so by first registering their interest with the Department of Health at workforce@dhs.vic.gov.au.

Placement Request Alerts
The Placement Request Alerts system enables subscribed health and community services to receive notification (alerts) of clinical placement requests from training providers. Health services are able to nominate disciplines for which they wish to receive alerts and are automatically sent contact details for the relevant training provider.Access the Placement Request Alerts system
Data Collection
The Student Trainee Reporting Tool (STaRT) collects medical, nursing and allied health clinical placement data to assist the Department of Health to allocate clinical placement funding to Victorian public health services from the Training and Development Grant. Data is collected from a host of education providers including Victorian institutions and interstate providers who place students in Victoria.Data collection in STaRT relies on the cooperation of education providers (who enter the data) and health services (who validate the data). The department strongly encourages both parties to liaise with each other prior to data entry in STaRT, to minimise possible discrepancies in the data. It is important to maintain open communications to ensure the accuracy of the data, as funding is allocated based on what is reported in STaRT.
