Enhanced Capacity and Quality
Clinical training plays an essential role in preparing health students to meet the demands of professional practice. Creating and maintaining an education culture within health services is critical to recruiting and retaining the necessary workforce to deliver essential client services into the future.
Clinical learning environments should provide learners with an opportunity to learn clinical skills and experience the reality of professional practice in a safe, supportive environment. Fostering a positive learning environment involves commitment to innovation, capacity-building and exceptional clinical practice. A strong learning environment will support students and staff throughout the clinical placement experience and may enhance health services' overall placement capacity as a result.
In Victoria, a significant amount of work has been done by health services, training providers and government to expand clinical placement capacity and improve the clinical placement experience for staff and students.
