Stage 1Page content: Overview | Launch | Contact OverviewStage 1 of the Strategy ran for four years from 2002 and celebrated 160 women’s health and wellbeing initiatives across the range of Department of Human Services (DHS) programs.
The key principles articulated in the framework are based on the concepts of equity, diversity, access, early intervention and prevention, consultation and participation, evidence and knowledge, and partnership. Each year a range of DHS initiatives are developed under the following five key action areas:
After a successful first year, the second year of the Strategy was launched in July 2003. The Strategy continues to go from strength to strength with the number of initiatives scheduled increasing from thirty-eight in Year One to forty-nine in Year Two.
Some key results have been achieved over the past four years as a result of the implementation of initiatives under the Strategy.
The Strategy publicly reports its progress through the Annual Victorian Women's Health & Wellbeing Forums. The Policy and Strategic Projects Division continues to drive continuous improvement. The Department of Human Services monitors the implementation of each annual action plan and manages an annual review process with key stakeholders.
