Grampians Clinical Placement Network

The Grampians Clinical Placement Network (CPN) has been established to support clinical education activities in Victoria’s west.

All health service providers within the Grampians CPN boundaries are automatic members of network. All education providers that access student clinical placements within the network are also members.

The Grampians CPN is led by a Committee that is representative of the CPN’s membership base. The Committee members represent the different sectors involved in clinical education in the CPN.

The CPN is also supported by the work of a dedicated Coordinator.

New projects in the Grampians CPN, commencing 2012

In late 2011, the Department of Health (the department), in partnership with Health Workforce Australia (HWA), conducted a request for proposals process for strategic project funding.

A full list of funded projects is available on the request for proposals page.

The Grampians CPN and its members have been successful in gaining funding for a number of projects collectively known as the "Grampians Integrated Clinical Learning Project", and a separate project in Radiology. The projects all incorporate many health services and education providers to provide an integrated approach to improving the capacity and quality of health care student clinical placements in the region.

The following 4 projects have been funded:
Program Project name Summary
Simulated Learning Environments Grampians Integrated Clinical Learning Project, part 1 To increase the capacity of staff across the CPN to deliver Simulation-Based Education and Training (SBET)
Simulated Learning Environments Radiology Phantoms To provide general radiography and nuclear medicine phantoms to allow students placed at Ballarat Health Services to practice exposures, positioning, acquisition and reconstruction techniques on innate objects
Clinical Supervision Support Program Grampians Integrated Clinical Learning Project, part 2 To increase the quantity of clinical supervisors providing enhanced clinical learning opportunities for all healthcare students in the Grampians CPN, particularly those in rural and expanded settings.
Expanded Settings for Clinical Placement Grampians Integrated Clinical Learning Project, part 3 To increase the capacity and usage of clinical placements available to healthcare students in expanded settings in the Grampians CPN.

These projects are additional to a 2011 student accommodation project in the Grampians CPN.

These projects were possible due to funding made available by Health Workforce Australia and the Department of Health, Victoria.
