Understanding the triggers and opportunities for improving farming family health. | The investigation of particular healthcare practices; tools and strategies used in the successful farmer engagement projects in the USA and UK. In particular, how overseas work informs the SFF project in understanding the triggers and opportunities for improving farming family health, minimising poor health outcomes and decreasing the risk of harm. |

Quality improvement & system measurement | An investigation of the successful components in the implementation, support and evaluation of the person centred approach across care settings. | The project is aimed at informing, facilitating and supporting key components of a strong person-centred approach to the provision of care, services and health promotion across different settings. The emphasis will be on components that facilitate consumer involvement; foster partnerships in care across care settings and empower older people to remain living independently in the community. | |

The project involves visiting emergency departments or trauma centres in the USA and evaluating their patient safety systems. | |

Quality improvement & patient safety | Improving medication safety in hospitals. | The purpose of this project is to improve medication safety and reduce risk of harm through the study of lead international organisations in medication safety and quality improvement, bringing back to the Victorian healthcare services the latest ideas, techniques and initiatives. | |

Quality improvement | Development of an evidence based model of care for psychiatric intensive care units. | The project will facilitate the investigation of options for service provision to patients in the psychiatric high dependency unit, balancing the need for safe, least restrictive care, to those new to psychiatric services. | |

Quality improvement & workforce redesign | The successful and innovative management of overweight and obese patients in cardiac rehabilitation programs. | This project will involve the study of innovative models of cardiac rehabilitation to reduce a major and preventable cardiac risk factor – obesity. This study will be conducted in the USA and UK, in facilities that have reported success with a variety of interventions, including behavioural and dietary interventions, internet case management and home-based therapy. |
