(5) A CT scanner must be available for emergency use. It is preferable for the location of the CT scanner to be within the Emergency Department. If not, it should be readily accessible from the ED. Full resusitation equipment should be available within the CT scanning area.
(6) In time, ultrasonography may be performed in the Emergency Department by appropriately trained non-radiologists.
(7) Funding of training positions should be considered by the relevant funding bodies. These positions could be either a component of the hospital staffing numbers or supernumerary by arrangement.
