Trauma Advice and Referral Line1800 700 001A Trauma Advice and Referral Line, 1800 700 001, was established by the Department of Human Services (the department) in 2002. The line provides communication access between the three Victorian Major Trauma Services (MTSs) - The Alfred, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Royal Children's Hospital – and all other levels of trauma service across the state .Calling the trauma number allows a doctor at a referring hospital to make immediate contact with a senior trauma clinician at the MTS of their choice. Senior trauma physicians will provide clinical advice and assistance to manage major trauma patients, prior to their transfer to a MTS for definitive care, as stated in the Trauma Triage Guidelines (TTG). The department recommends medical and nurse clinicians consult the:
Trauma Triage Guidelines (TTG) for guidance on when to call the Trauma Advice and Referral Line. Regional Trauma Coordinators (RTCs), department representatives, are available to assist Victorian regional, rural hospitals and General Practitioners with education and assistance with trauma related issues at any time. The Department welcomes all enquiries and encourage all stakeholders to access the RTCs at any time. Contact details for the Regional and MetropolitanTrauma Coordinators are available under contacts |
