This section of the Victorian Government Health Information Website contains information relating to the Victorian State Trauma System.

In response to the Consultative Committee on Road Traffic Fatalities, a ministerial taskforce into trauma and emergency care was conducted. The Department of Human Services released the final taskforce report, the Review of Trauma and Emergency Services (RoTES report) in 1999 .

The report provides an extensive and comprehensive framework for the management of trauma in Victoria that matches the needs of injured patients to an appropriate level of treatment. The system aims to reduce preventable death and permanent disability and improve patient outcomes.
