The interventions

Safer Systems – Saving Lives employed six key interventions designed to improve patient outcomes. The interventions are evidence based and if systematically applied across organisations have been proven in regard to preventing harm to patients. The interventions are:

• Preventing ventilator-associated complications
• Preventing surgical site infection
• Preventing central venous catheter related-bloodstream infections
• Implementing a rapid response system
• Preventing adverse drug events
• Improving care for acute myocardial infarction
