Summer Strategy Emergency Management Workshops

The Victorian State Government has responsibility for coordinating state-wide emergency responses. In this role we are keen to work in collaboration with the health and aged care sector, including SRS, to support planning and preparedness for emergency situations.

The Department of Health has arranged for workshops to be delivered across Victoria, that aim to support SRS to better understand the obligations and responsibilities for planning and responding to an emergency. In early October 2009, invitations to these workshops were sent to all SRS.

Please see the PDF document below that lists the workshops available in your Region.

SRS prospective proprietors' seminar

The Department of Health (DoH) conducts these seminars to provide general information about the sector and more specific information to assist prospective proprietors to determine whether to pursue registration.

DoH believes it is essential that new proprietors have a good knowledge of the operation of supported residential services. These seminars contribute significantly towards achieving that knowledge and will ultimately benefit the residents who will be receiving care.

DoH determined that from 1 January 1998, it would be a requirement for new proprietors to attend the seminar before registration or alternately, if that is not possible, a condition will be placed on the certificate of registration requiring the proprietor to attend the seminar within six months of obtaining registration.
