SRS prospective proprietors' seminar

The Department of Health (DH) conducts these seminars to provide general information about the sector and more specific information to assist prospective proprietors to determine whether to pursue registration.

DH believes it is essential that new proprietors have a good knowledge of the operation of supported residential services. These seminars contribute significantly towards achieving that knowledge and will ultimately benefit the residents who will be receiving care.

DH determined that from 1 January 1998, it would be a requirement for new proprietors to attend the seminar before registration or alternately, if that is not possible, a condition will be placed on the certificate of registration requiring the proprietor to attend the seminar within six months of obtaining registration.
