The Green Report 2001
In 2000 the then Minister for Housing and Aged Care sought advice on priorities
for policy implementation and a coordinated set of practical strategies that
would address the needs of residents of Supported Residential Services in
response to community concerns. This project, completed by Associate Professor
David Green in 2001, was commissioned by the then Director Aged Community
and Mental Health.
2008 Supported Residential Services (SRS) Census
The SRS 2008 Census was conducted during June & July 2008. 159 SRS facilities out of a total of 181 participated in completing the census representing a response rate of 88%.
2003 Supported Residential Services
(SRS) Census
The SRS Census was undertaken of 215 facilities with 7,104 beds during October
2003 to December 2003. A return rate of 80% was achieved.

Meeting the Need- A guide to providing quality care in supported residential services was recently updated to include changes in legislation, in particular in relation to residents' finances. Meeting the needprovides guidance to SRS proprietors on relevant legislation, standards and requirements for operating an SRS and provides information for self-assessments and example documents to assist you.
All SRS proprietors should have a copy of this document or you can contact the SRS and Accommodation Support Unit.

SRS Proprietor Resource Kit for Emergency Management Planning
A certified fire safety practitioner has developed several resources that meet the requirements of Australian Standard 3745. These materials are provided by the Department of Health to support SRS Proprietors in fulfilling their responsibilities to residents and staff in emergency events. In January 2009, the Department distributed these resources in a "Kit for Emergency Management Planning", containing;

- CD Word version of a Sample Plan for proprietor's to modify for their SRS
- Training DVD in Workplace Emergency Response procedures
