Overview

Transfer of registration:

  • If the proprietor wants to sell the business to another operator, the proprietor must apply for a Transfer of Registration.
  • The purchaser cannot run the business until the transfer is approved and settlement of the contract of sale has taken place.
  • The department assesses if the purchaser is 'fit and proper' and has the financial capacity to continue operating the business (as defined in the Health Services Act 1988 (available from the Victorian Law Today section of the Victorian Legislation and Parliamentary Documents website)).
  • The purchaser will need to supply a detailed business plan and proposals for providing care.
