Under one roof
An online video with stories and information about managing and living in a supported residential service. See Under one roof.
Supported Residential Services (SRS) provide accommodation and support for people who need support in everyday life, for example, people who are frail or have a disability.
SRS are privately operated services. They do not receive government funding but must be registered with the State Government and are monitored to ensure they provide certain standards of personal support and accommodation.
SRS vary in the services they provide, the people they accommodate and the fees they charge.
The Department of Health has responsibility for administration of the legislation governing SRS under the Supported Residential Services (Private Proprietors) Act 2010.
There are about 160 SRS registered with the Department of Health ranging from small facilities to larger facilities with up to 90 residents.
This website provides information for SRS residents, people considering living in an SRS, their families, carers, service providers and the wider community. It also provides guidelines and forms for people who own and operate SRS, those considering operating an SRS and those considering building or using existing premises as an SRS.

An induction video for SRS residents. It outlines residents’ rights and responsibilities in a light-hearted way that reinforces the key message that living communally is all about respecting each other’s differences. See Welcome to our home - video for SRS residents.
