Features

Rural Capital Support Fund
This fund aims to strengthen and sustain existing rural and regional health services through the upgrade of their local facilities. This RCSF will be delivered as a grants program over four years from 2011 to 2014.

Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS)
The Victorian Patient Transport Assistance Scheme (VPTAS) subsidises the travel and accommodation costs incurred by rural Victorians and an approved escort who have no option but to travel a long distance to receive approved medical specialist services. Some administrative changes have been made to the scheme and new claim forms developed to make claiming for VPTAS easier.

Rural collaborative practice model
The Rural Collaborative Practice Model (RCPM) Pilot aims to introduce a new collaborative practice model of care into a selection of rural hospitals and a bush nursing centres to deliver sustainable and safe emergency care in rural Victoria.

National Strategic Framework for Rural and Remote Health
The National Strategic Framework for Rural and Remote Health promotes a national approach to policy, planning, design and delivery of health services in rural and remote communities. The Framework has been developed through the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council’s (AHMAC) Rural Health Standing Committee (RHSC) with the valued input of the National Rural Health Alliance and a wide range of other rural health stakeholders.
