Community consultation

A guide to community consultation in rural and regional communities

This document aims to assist agencies in rural and regional of Victoria areas through the provision of flexible and broadly applicable guidelines for the structuring of consultation processes.

A Guide to Community Consultation in Rural and Regional Communities addresses three of these principles:

Capability of Communities
Social capability and the physical capacity to plan and implement local programs are required for communities to improve and maintain their health.

Community Participation
Community participation by individuals, communities and special groups in determining their health priorities should be pursed as a basis for successful programs and services to maintain and improve their health.

Partnerships and Collaboration
The establishment of effective partnerships in the delivery of services, and collaboration for the benefit of communities, are essential ingredients in successful implementation of health improvement programs.
