Page content: Overview | Download document

Overview

The NIMC national audit will take place from 1 August to 30 November in 2011 and from 1 August to 30 September every two years, from 2012.

All public hospitals and private hospitals using the NIMC are invited to participate.

The purpose of the audit is to:

  • measure the safety of medication management practice related to the NIMC
  • identify areas of practice requiring improvement
  • benchmark with peer hospitals and track practice over time.

For audit tools and guidelines, visit the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) NIMC website.

For the first login to the national NIMC audit database, a password is required. Passwords are obtained from Angela Wai, ACSQHC.

In 2007 pre and post implementation data was submitted from seven regional and rural sites and seven metropolitan sites in Victoria. The results from those audits are summarised below.
